Funding - We ALWAYS need Donations!
• Operating Fund:
Last year we calculated that it cost us $99/day for food. That’s not much money to feed 200 people a day, but it’s a lot of money when you think that we’re feeding 200 people every day of the year! And that $99 doesn’t include our other costs, like insurance, rent, garbage pickup, supplies, Assistance, utilities, etc. Daily Bread gets NO government money. We are entirely supported by local donations and a few local grants. So cash donations are always welcome. We appreciate any and all donations, but we are especially grateful to individuals who choose to donate regular amounts through our ‘Bread of the Month Club.’
•Assistance Fund:
We have an assistance fund that is managed by our assistance committee. The primary use of assistance funds is to help guests with Illinois ID’s or birth certificates, necessary documents for obtaining government assistance or jobs. We also provide yearly bus passes for guests who demonstrate a need for transportation.
